FOURTHWALLING: Considering his own canon relies on the fact that the novels are real, published works in-universe, I'm 100% okay with other characters knowing who Armand is, even if they're not from his canon. (If it's more fun to go in blind though, go for it.)
PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Armand seems - and often is - distant, but he absolutely can grow attached to others. He may be verbally and physically affectionate if he likes your character, and will tolerate a great deal of it being returned to him. For everything else
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: As a vampire, Armand has killed people. Literally thousands of people. Some of them were other vampires. He mostly gets away with this because of the glamour effect he can contrive, but he is also preternaturally strong, because why write about vampires if you're not going to overpower them, I guess?? Naturally with that said, I'm here for fun threads, not godmodding, so trust me...if you need to lay a beat down on this guy, we can figure out how. I've got basically no limits for violence beyond 'probably not killing him', if it makes for a good thread.
SHIPPING: This writer isn't interested in shipping. Armand is canonically bisexual however, and I'm happy with characters having IC discussions re: sexuality. Interesting note: all Anne Rice vampires are also canonically incapable of sexual arousal/attraction and are asexual, although they appear to retain their romantic preferences once turned.
OFFENSIVE TOPICS: See this comment below for a complete list. Armand's canon is a doozy, his specific history even moreso, and the author's handling of what happened to him doesn't help matters. The vast majority of what happened to him growing up won't be directly referenced without buildup and I would contact players oocly to check in before mentioning anything related to his history of sex trafficking and csa/grooming, however. Also see below for the opt-out post, if you'd like to specify anything you need me to avoid mentioning OR opt out of interacting with Armand entirely.
→ melodramatic feelings
→ consensual feeding, both from mortal characters or from/to other vampires
→ slow burn friendship
→ mortal friends who can teach him about modern day life (night owls not required, he will happily dump characters out of bed to get attention)
→ exploring character's issues, both armand's and the other's, esp with realistically awkward/imperfect attempts at hurt/comfort
→ actual fights (physical, verbal, or both), especially when followed-up with resolution for after they're done throwing their tantrums
→ enemies-to-friends
→ the kind of purple prose about befriending each other that would make Victorian era authors tell us to chill
→ murdering done out of love/to protect another character, even if said other character is not happy about this

Apr. 18th, 2018 04:15 pm| ☄ First Impressions ♚ VISUAL: Auburn hair, often long and lightly curling, sometimes cut shorter to match what's more common in the time he's currently living in. Dark brown eyes. He looks like a youth around seventeen years old, because that's when he was turned. He's about 5'6" and lightly built. Basically, envision that whole 'ageless vampire' trope put with a nasty spin, because who would guess that that teenager is actually a 500 year-old killing machine who used to run a cult? He also might seem...just a bit off. Armand is better than most vampires at mimicking human motions and skin tone ♚ FASHION: He experiments with what he sees as symbolism; he loves clothes only for what he interprets them as meaning. This can result in a...wide range, although it can safely be assumed that there was at least an attempt to match clothes with the setting he's currently in. He doesn't seek to stand out visually in public. ♚ DEMEANOUR: He is slow and careful to act, and this is reflected in his general attitude. He easily and often closes himself off from anyone he'd rather not speak to. That said, Armand is powered at least 50% by pure spite and terrified devotion to a want of purpose; when he does feel strongly enough to emote about something, there will be no confusion that he's having feelings. He just might not be the best at handling it. He's capable of incredible cruelty when wronged, and will absolutely have deeply painful arguments with someone if it's a topic that strikes a nerve. However, he doesn't run the risk of breaking things before he realizes their importance to him - Armand tries to be honest with himself about attachments. If he likes your character, they will know, even if he may be eerie about expressing himself. His ability for dedication is a potential strength that can (and has) rapidly devolved into a weakness - he will happily lose himself to another's philosophy or morals, which can be used for bad ends. On the whole, he is soft-spoken and appears calm. He is usually decisive about his actions and does not halfway move towards or away from things, but he can and will spend hours or days debating which course of action is best. He's thoughtful and considering, although his morals may often lead him to conclusions others wouldn't take . ♚ SOUND: Soft voice, best described as an impassioned monotone. He has a vague accent that increases when he's agitated; although good luck asking him where he was born. Skilled listeners may note that he sounds Slavic ♚ SCENT: Curiously free of scent on his skin, he'll only smell like whatever he's wearing or washed with. Like his clothes, he experiments with this and attempts to match it to the current scenery...assuming he thought of it at all. ♚ MENTAL INFORMATION: Vampires in his canon often have some degree of psychic powers, and Armand appears to be a notably powerful telepath among them. He can entrance both humans and other vampires, convincing them of their safety with him and their desire for him - in fact when he hunts, he simply calls his victims to him. He has a better-than-average ability to hide his own thoughts from other telepaths, as well |

Apr. 6th, 2018 08:56 amfeel free to message this account if you're interested at all in threads, but aren't comfortable jumping right in/aren't sure where to begin. i'm a university student with a job, so my tagging speed will vary. i'm very chill about tagging speed from my partners - don't worry about tagging back on something that's weeks/even months old if it's hitting your interests still. i'm just here to have fun. o7
and a general note for anyone familiar with the vampire chronicles canon: i have another account for a vc character, and can be very easily enabled into making more, so if you clicked through because you were excited to see another vc player but aren't too interested in armand, definitely feel free to message me with any other character interests, and i'll let you know if i feel like i could write for them.
